“Part of being a person is about helping others.”

About Us

Who We Are & What We Believe

Nepal Jail Ministry (NJM) is a compassionate and reform-focused organization committed to bringing positive transformation in the lives of prisoners and formerly incarcerated individuals.

We believe that every person, regardless of their past, has value, dignity, and the potential to change. Our work is rooted in the conviction that prisons should not only be places of punishment, but also places of restoration, learning, healing, and new beginnings.

NJM exists to listen to, understand, and respond to the realities faced by prisoners, their families, and especially their children. Through practical support, skill development, counseling, education, and reintegration programs, we seek to help individuals rebuild their lives with hope and purpose.

Our Mission

Nepal Jail Ministry (NJM) is dedicated to restoring dignity and creating second chances for prisoners. We work to provide rehabilitation, education, and support programs while helping society understand and engage with the lives of those behind bars. Through compassion and practical assistance, we aim to rebuild hope, inside and beyond prison walls.

Prison Administration Services

NJM collaborates with prison authorities to improve prisoner welfare and rehabilitation programs. We aim to make prisons a place of positive change rather than just punishment.

Our Services Include:

  • Educational and vocational training programs.
  • Counseling and life skills support for prisoners.
  • Collaboration with prison staff to enhance humane practices.
Mr. Jay Deula

Founder & Chairman’s Message

There was a time in my life when I was only 9–10 years old. During that period, I heard that my own uncle had been sent to prison on the accusation of killing his wife. This was not just something I heard casually; it came from the words of my parents and relatives. One sentence they said, “He is innocent, please consider,” was engraved in my heart like words carved on stone.

At that time, my father and relatives were working as police personnel in the central prison. Because of this, I had the opportunity to meet prisoners face to face. Those encounters were not just moments; they were deep experiences.

From that point on, a strong belief began to grow within me:

“Mistakes can happen to anyone, but every person deserves a chance to rise again. Forget the past, embrace the new.”

We have closely observed that no one is born a criminal. Unemployment, financial hardship, greed, comparison, bad company, family pressure, and difficult circumstances often push people toward the wrong path. Some make wrong decisions due to a lack of opportunity, some under pressure, and others because of momentary weakness that ends up changing the course of their entire life.

Many people inside prisons are not just serving sentences; they are human beings struggling with regret, pain, fear, and an uncertain future. Many feel lost; they believe there is no way back.

Understanding this reality, NJM continues its work. Our purpose is not to highlight faults, but to recognize humanity; not to condemn, but to awaken potential.

Through skill-based training, practical support, and reform-focused programs, we help them become self-reliant, confident, and able to reintegrate into society with dignity.

We firmly believe that with the right guidance, opportunity, and support, every person can transform their life. Change is not easy, but it is always possible. Our goal is not only to run programs inside prisons, but to create a lasting impact so that when they are released, they do not return to their past, but move forward with a new mindset and a new direction.

Once, a female prisoner asked me:

“You have made us skilled, but what will society say when we go out?”

I replied:

“You cannot stop birds from flying over your head, but you can stop them from building a nest on it. What society says is not as important as how you choose to build your life.”

In the end, our message is simple yet powerful:

“Behind every fall, there is a possibility to rise, if someone reaches out with belief.”

Nepal Jail Ministry (NJM) is not just an organization; it is a heartfelt effort to listen to, understand, and uplift the voices that society has long ignored.
